It has come to our attention that Kyle Philips is using our name, Alpha Radon, to promote his business as a radon mitigator and tester. Mr. Philips is using a howling wolf as his logo. At least he is showing his true colors right up front and not hiding behind sheep’s clothing. On the “about us” tab of his website he states “as a sergeant in the United States Army, I learned not only the skills and values of a leader and the integrity of a soldier”. Integrity? What integrity? His website also says he is a “radon specialist” and no certifications are found. A quick search on both radon certifying bodies for radon professionals in Georgia – NRPP and NRSB -come up empty!
His website also claims he is a “Certified Professional Home Inspector”. Again, no evidence of this is found. Again, where is the integrity of a soldier? Why would you hire a home inspector to install a radon mitigation system?
Buyer beware! Mr. Philips is performing radon work in the greater Atlanta area with NO CERTIFCATION and NOT EVEN A BUSINESS LICESNSE.
We are the real Alpha Home Services and Alpha Radon, certified for radon testing by the National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) and active members in the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST) as well as founding members of the South East AARST chapter. We appreciate you taking the time to seek out certified professionals in both the radon and home inspection industries.

Short-term Testing
The quickest way to test is with short-term tests. Short-term tests remain in your home from two to 90 days, depending on the device. There are two groups of devices which are more commonly used for short-term testing. The active device group includes continuous monitors. The passive device group includes alpha track detectors and charcoal canisters.
Active Devices
Active radon testing devices require power to function. These include continuous radon monitors. They continuously measure and record the amount of radon or its decay products in the air. Our Sun Nuclear continuous radon monitors provide a report including hourly readings of radon levels which can reveal any unusual or abnormal swings in the radon level during the test period. Our devices are specifically designed to deter and detect test interference. These tests may ensure a more reliable result as compared to tests completed with passive devices.
Passive Devices
Passive radon testing devices do not need power to function. These include charcoal canisters and alpha-track detectors. These devices are exposed to the air in the home for a specified period of time and then set to a laboratory for analysis.
Long-Term Testing
Long-term tests remain in your home for more than 90 days. Alpha track detectors are used for this type of testing. A long-term test result is more likely to tell you your home’s year-round average radon level than a short-term test. If time permits (more than 90 days), long-term tests can be used to confirm initial short-term results.
